Hello Gardeners! We welcomed fall to the garden this week.

Garden Closing Event - October 25th:
With the weather changing, we're starting to think about closing up our garden plots. We'll have a group work day Saturday October 25th from 9am to 1pm to get the garden packed away before winter sets in. Look out for the Evite!
Partner Volunteer Events: Crown Pointe Charter School joined Rose Roots gardeners this weekend to continue their amazing help with garden projects. Middle school students joined us Saturday to water, weed, and help out with painting in the children's play area. Thanks to the helping hands we've got some new scarecrows watching over the Food Forest and other areas, and fewer weeds everywhere!
That wasn't the only help we're had in the garden in recent weeks, earlier this month, a group of enthusiastic young people from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints held a work day in the garden, where they weeded, watered, wielded wheelbarrows, and crushed compost. Their hard work is greatly appreciated!
Security Cameras
The new scarecrows aren't the only things keeping watch over the garden this fall. Rose Roots is installing security cameras after the disturbing increase in garden thefts this summer. Keep an eye out for "security camera in use" signs going up around the garden. We'll also install motion sensor lights on the center pavillion and back shed. As a reminder - if you run into a garden thief in action, please don't hesitate to call law enforcement and then report it to leadership@roserootsgarden.org.
Let's Get Over the Finish Line for the Veggie Van
The non-profit Veggie Van is still picking up every Sunday and Thursday at 10:00 am from the red barn on the West end.
We ask each gardener donate 20% of their harvest to those in need:
Put your donations in the barn fridge in time for pick up.
Going on vacation? Plant one of the new "Pick Me for the Veggie Van" signs along with your Water Me sign so that others know they can harvest your plot for the Veggie Van.
Shout Outs!
What an amazing time we had in August when the Hummin'birds came to play bluegrass music at the garden! Thanks to the band for playing and to Erin Newton for arranging the fun evening.
Thanks so much to Calvin for the donation of corn!
We so appreciate Laura Berkabile and Andrea's continued work on the children's area mural.
Thank you Taegan for help researching security camera options.
Osiris - we really appreciate all your help coordinating with DUG and providing signage!
