Youth Corner

"As a child, one has that magical capacity to move among the many eras of the earth; to see the land as an animal does; to experience the sky from the perspective of a flower or a bee; to feel the earth quiver and breathe beneath us; to know a hundred different smells of mud and listen unselfconsciously to the soughing of the trees."

                             --Valerie Andrews,

                             A Passion for this Earth

"Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts."

                                    --Rachel Carson

"Let children walk with nature, let them see the beautiful blendings of communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life."

                                                 --John Muir

Rose Roots Youth Mission Statement

Based on the principles of JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion), our Rose Roots Youth Team members came up with these goals as a group:

Justice: Ensure everyone feels welcome and treated fairly.

Equity: Provide activities that help include all ages, genders and ethnic backgrounds in our gardening community.

Diversity: Promote gardening for all ages and backgrounds.

Inclusion: Cultivate love and appreciation for nature and gardening at a young age.

Our team of active youth enjoy the Children's garden, the sand play area and bring bright smiles to gardeners across Rose Roots while learning about the natural world around them and growing and harvesting their own food.

Please submit your photos Here so we can feature your Rose Roots youth!

Stay tuned for upcoming youth events. Children of all ages are always welcome and celebrated at Rose Roots Community Garden to share in learning the lessons learned while communing with nature and getting our hands in the dirt.
